Blissing out to the new Deerhoof album, The Runners Four. The 60s-psych sound is heightened here, and the recording is much more raw (no overdubs, no samples) than in the past; more acoustic instruments, more pop (still enough noise). It seems like each member of the band contributed and sang their own songs on this record too -- their styles of songwriting differ enough that it comes across like an updated White Album. Or a long lost Zombies record re-recorded by the sons & daughters of van Vliet and, oh I dunno, the Boredoms? The Slits?
