Went to see the Dying Californian, my old college housemates, play at Mr. T's Bowl. Saw perhaps the best men's room grafiti ever:

How did you like Dying Californian? When the dudes from that band used to be in Nuzzle, I saw them a few times in SF and they always put on a good show. I understand DC is a lot quieter than Nuzzle was.
It's hard for me to get any critical distance because I've known the guys for over a decade. That said, what they're doing is no longer hardcore, or even remotely emo. I've seen their new incarnation twice; the first time the show was very quiet, countrified, but with the harmonies and whiskey vocals you'd expect from Nate. This last show was kind of a rockin' rev-up, reminded me of The Band, or Dylan's Rolling Thunder Review.
